John and Fee moved to Witham Friary in 2017 and John joined the Parish Council in early 2018. Prior to moving here, they lived in rural Wiltshire and had decided to move into a village after John had retired. They are very pleased to have moved to Witham and have very much enjoyed being involved in village life. They also have the added advantage of being close to their children and grandchildren.
John’s career started in the Army and after leaving Sandhurst, John joined the Royal Engineers and took a Civil Engineering degree. His career then took him to Malaysia and Hong Kong where he served with the Brigade of Gurkhas. Further postings took him and Fee to Germany, the Ministry of Defence in London and finally back to Sandhurst.
After serving for twenty years in the Army John left to take up jobs in high technology industries including several early-stage start-ups and eventually retiring aged seventy-five having been told it was about time he did so!
John’s responsibilities on the Council include liaison with Witham Water, an overview on Finance, the Playpatch, the Village Defibrillator, the Reading Rooms and anywhere else when asked.
